Local artist, Kate Mckay attends the Seed Talks Women with ADHD summit in Glasgow

As part of our Associated Artist Programme, Findhorn Bay Arts supported Kate McKay to attend the Seed Talks Women with ADHD summit.

Here’s what Kate had to say about it.

I had an inspiring and affirming time taking Polychrome to the Seed Talks Women with ADHD summit in Glasgow.  It was a fantastic way to launch the new www.mindseyemoray.com website and shop which showcases all the creative approaches to neurodivergence I have been supported to explore through Findhorn Bay Arts.

I had many incredible conversations and insights into how different professionals will use the Polychrome Cards in their work to support neurodivergence.

What is compassionate curiosity?

Sarah Osborn was one of the speakers, a nutritional therapist who specialises in exploring the links between neurodivergence and eating behaviours.  She uses the term ‘Compassionate Curiosity’ to describe the approach she takeswith her clients, and encourages us all to take that approach towards ourselves. This term resonates deeply with the Polychrome cards which I intended to be used to forge pathways into more nuanced, compassionate and creative approaches to neurodivergence.  Sarah was very passionate about the cards and bought a set to use with her clients, she explained that they would be useful to help people reconnect with their bodies and senses which is a key to opening doors to healthy connections with eating.

This was another revelation on a personal level because I struggled with eating disorders when I was a child, but I had never made the connection with neurodivergence.

The Polychrome cards were originally created as an artwork through my Combine to Create residency.  A visual way for me to process conversations and observations from my own experience and that of children and parents of the Minds Eye art group.  It really is amazing to see these spectrums of colour and words travelling off into a completely different sector to build bridges between mindsets and foster a sense of compassionate curiosity towards ourselves and each other.

Polychrome cards are now available to purchase from the online shop www.mindseyemoray.com
