Findhorn Bay Arts were community partners in the UK-wide coastal arts festival – Beach of Dreams.
Beach of Dreams is a UK-wide coastal arts festival activating and exploring the unique heritage, cultures and climate futures of our coastlines. A major interdisciplinary creative programme saw ambitious new participatory art commissions, creative walks and events taking place across the coasts of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, and digitally, from 1 May – 1 June 2025. Beach of Dreams is a platform for celebrating, reflecting and imagining new possible climate futures for our coastlines and planet.
Presented by Kinetika and supported by Arts Council England and Historic England.
The Creative Programme
Beach of Dreams invited you to step outside, walk together, and connect with the beauty, stories, and challenges of the UK’s coastlines. It was a chance to reflect on our relationship with these extraordinary landscapes, discover fresh perspectives, and imagine new possibilities for the future.
The festival built on Kinetika’s evolving national artwork that defines Beach of Dreams – an installation of hundreds of silk pennants, each telling a personal story of our relationship to the coast and sea. Together, these formed a tapestry of hope and inspiration for our shared future. Alongside this, everyone could offer their pledge to support the future of our coastal environment.
Beach of Dreams Moray!
We worked with artist Amy Neville of Naturally Useful, artist Eve Mosher and Wild Things! Environmental Education in Action and invited local people to creatively connect with our coastline from Burghead to Findhorn and to contribute to a local artwork of Batik silk pennants.
After two successful workshops, we invited participants to join us for a promenade along the coastline from Burghead to Findhorn as part of the Beach of Dreams Moray on Sunday 18 May.
We walked with over 50 silk pennants, created by artists Eve Mosher and Amy Neville and local people – each celebrating our connection to the coast, which culminated with a gathering at Findhorn. In total, we had over 100 pennants in the final artwork installation on the day.
