Findhorn Bay Arts presented Scotland’s first ever Culture Day at venues across Moray on Saturday 21 September 2013.
After being staged as a standalone event in 2013-15, Culture Day become a core part of the biennial Findhorn Bay Festival programme.
This year, as part of the Findhorn Bay Festival we will be bringing back Culture Day Forres on Sat 26 Sep, 11am to 4pm a fun, free, family day out, jam-packed with exciting exhibitions and performances and lots have have -a-go activities
Based on the successful model of Culture Night events held annually in Copenhagen, Dublin, Belfast and other European cities, Culture Day provided an opportunity for audiences of all ages – visitors and locals – to connect with the rich heritage and diverse range of arts and cultural activity that takes place in Moray throughout the year.
Each Culture Day, the heart of Forres was brought to life with creativity. Alleys, cafes, pubs, artists studios, shops, bus stops, parks and playing fields, community spaces and halls burst to life with a mix of free performances, film screenings, music, poetry readings, exhibitions, talks, demonstrations, workshops and interactive events.
Culture Day invites artists, community groups, organisations, and arts, heritage and cultural venues to showcase their talents and the vibrancy of what happens locally all year round.
Throughout the day Culture Day participants will provide innovative FREE taster activities, performances, events, screenings, exhibitions, talks, displays or tours that engage audiences of all ages
Events and / or activities happen in town centre venues, shops, cafes, parks and civic spaces and should be available to drop-in on throughout the day or running at regular intervals
Findhorn Bay Arts will work with participants to help find a suitable space and activity that best reflects your work and/or group to be part of Culture Day Forres.
