Guerilla Lighting

Community lighting installations staged at for Scotland's Year of Innovation, Architecture & Design.

During the Findhorn Bay Festival 2016, and as part of Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture & Design, the internationally renowned Light Collective created a series of community light installations to reflect the night-time character of our built and natural environment.

Guerrilla Lighting tours took place in Forres and Findhorn with over 200 local people coming together to light up iconic buildings and scenes.  In Forres, the Mosset Park Rose Garden, Thompson Monument, St Laurence Church, Falconer Museum and Anderson’s Primary School were lit.

In Findhorn, the beach huts, Findhorn Heritage Centre & Ice House, the pier, James Milne Institute and Findhorn Church were amongst the spots to receive a light transformation.

In partnership with Benromach, whisky themed light projections were shone upon the famous Benromach Distillery and the tall red chimney was lit up for all to see.

At the historic Kinloss Abbey, a photography workshop was held in the grounds at night for amateur photographers to practise and learn about night time shooting.

Members of the public and amateur photographers entered their images of the Guerrilla Lighting scenes into a photography competition during the Findhorn Bay Festival. The top three images chosen from the competition were shot by Ewan Mathers, Iain Rollo and Hazel Duncan.
