Job Opportunity: Emerging Creative Producer – Unexpected Garden

This event has now passed.

We are seeking a talented and creative individual to work with Findhorn Bay Arts to devise and deliver a creative engagement programme for an Unexpected Garden for Moray.

*DEADLINE EXTENDED TO NOON, THURSDAY 9 DECEMBER 2021*

We are seeking a talented and creative individual to work with us to devise and deliver a creative engagement programme for an Unexpected Garden for Moray.

What is an Unexpected Garden?

Unexpected Gardens will spring up across Scotland in unusual places next year, taking over patches of unused or (apparently) unusable land / unusual spaces.

These gardens will show that even the unlikeliest space can bloom. Both surprising spaces to visit and productive growing hubs, each garden will host seasonal events, installations, and grow herbs and vegetables for the whole community to share at a local Harvest festival.

Unexpected Gardens are a key programme of Dandelion, a new creative initiative inviting people from all over Scotland to get growing, sharing and celebrating food, music and ideas with their communities.

What does the Emerging Creative Producer role involve?

Supported by the core Dandelion team, the Emerging Creative Producer will work with Findhorn Bay Arts to actively engage people in local communities with the new Unexpected Garden spaces. This will include devising and delivering a creative engagement programme that runs from April 2022 and culminates with a Harvest Festival in September 2022.

What skills and experience do I need?

Emerging Creative Producers are being recruited across Scotland for the Unexpected Gardens project. These roles are designed for people who are new to producing.

You will have less than five years of work experience producing events. These opportunities are open to emerging creative practitioners of any age. We recognise that all types of work experience are valuable and provide useful transferable skills, so please do tell us about your previous work history and the skills you can bring to Dandelion.

All Emerging Creative Producers will be mentored and supported by their Respective Partner Organisation and our Dandelion Network Coordinator. Relevant on-the-job training will also be provided. All Emerging Creative Producers will be provided with the equipment they need (e.g. a laptop) to carry out their role, and we may be able to help with relocation costs. All Black, Asian and ethnically diverse and/or D/deaf or disabled applicants who meet the essential requirements of the person specification will be guaranteed an interview.

Salary / Hours:

10 month contract, Full Time (35 hrs per week including some evenings and weekends).

£24,000 p/a (£20,000 pro rata). Job share option available.

21 days holiday per annum plus 8 public holidays for 10 month period.

Deadline:

Extended to noon, Thursday 9th December 2021

Note for Applicants:

Dandelion is hosting ten Emerging Creative Producers at ten different venues across Scotland. Some of those venues have received lots of applications for the role of Emerging Creative Producer, and others fewer. To ensure as diverse a range of applications as possible we have extended the deadline by two weeks. As this is a national project, and for consistency, we have extended the deadline for all the Emerging Creative Producer roles at all ten venues.

If you have already applied, your application form will be filed and reviewed at the new deadline of midday, Thursday 9 December. There’s no need to revise your application, but if you’d like to see the update job specification, see attached.

Thank you for your patience. We are planning interviews, which will be hosted on Zoom, week commencing 13 December.
