FBA announces first International Exchange

FBA are delighted to announce our first international exchange – featuring embedded residencies and collaboration between musicians from Moray and Brittany.

Next year will see an international collaboration between musicians Danielle Price and Martin Lee Thomson (aka Dopey Monkey) who are both originally from Moray and musicians Jean-Luc Thomas and Gab Fruare from Brittany.

This international exchange sees the musicians sharing tunes from their respective repertoire and cultural traditions and collaborating on new pieces – an exchange of tunes, stories and the cultures they come from through a residency embedded in each others respective rural communities in the summer of 2024 – culminating with performances as part of the 5th Findhorn Bay Festival (20-29 Sept 2024).

We are thrilled to be working with Hirundo Rustica (Brittany, France) to facilitate our first international exchange supporting artists to connect with each other and their respective communities to share the music, stories and traditions they are influenced by.

The artists kick start their exchange with a concert at this year’s Celtic Connections on the 3rd of February performing their respective repertoires.

A champion of arts and culture has been awarded an MBE in recognition of her service to Moray. Nearly 14 years after founding producer of cultural events and activities, Findhorn Bay Arts, Kresanna Aigner is thrilled to be included in the New Year’s Honours List. She said: “I am deeply honoured. It reflects not just my own work, but the dedication, creativity and belief of the artists, colleagues, volunteers, partners and communities who have shaped Findhorn Bay Arts. “This recognition belongs to everyone who believes that high-quality culture matters, that rural places deserve ambitious creative opportunities, and that the arts can connect people, strengthen communities, and open up possibilities.
