Unexpected Garden – Musician in Residence

Would you be interested in creating a live or recorded performance, or a sound installation, with a particular focus on growing and plants?

Findhorn Bay Arts are seeking a Musician in Residence for the Unexpected Garden in Forres, which will be delivered in partnership with Dandelion, the Scotland-wide creative growing initiative.

What is involved?

The Musician in Residence will respond to, and create work, linked to the new Unexpected Garden spaces being developed in Forres.

This response may involve a participatory programme and/or creation of a new piece of work to be presented at the culminating Harvest event. The Musician should have an interest in exploring ideas or issues around growing, climate crisis and culture that matter to the people living in the communities in which they are working.

Who can apply?

The Musician in Residence opportunities are open to both emerging and established musicians who are working in all genres of music. We are happy to consider applications from duos and bands, as well as
individuals.

Terms and conditions:

Hours: 20 days (or 115 hours worked flexibly across more days), plus attendance / performance / presentation at the culminating Harvest event on 10th and/or 11th September 2022.

Term: This is a freelance contract running from 1st April – 11th September 2022.

Location: Forres.

Fee: £4,368 (21 days at £208, 20 days residency programme and 1 day attendance / performance at the Harvest event) There will be a small allowance available for local travel and subsistence.

Deadline: Midday, Thursday 10th March 2022.

How to apply:

We would like you tell us how your work and practice fits with the nature of the Residency.

Please apply in a format that feels comfortable to you. This could be in writing (maximum 2 x A4 sides for a covering letter) or by submitting an audio recording or a video (maximum 10 minutes). Please also provide 3 examples of your work and a link to your website or social media.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced PVG with Disclosure Scotland.
